Clubmark Bronze presentation & launch of new courts invite.

This event is scheduled for Tuesday, 26th September at 3.30pm at the Clubhouse. We will also take this opportunity to launch our newly resurfaced courts. This Award is a recognition of all the dedication, commitment and efforts each of you and committee members have given to the management of the Club over the last twenty seven years. Our special guests on the day will be Cliff O'Carroll, Tennis Ireland President and Roger Geraghty, Tennis Ireland Development Director. All members and families from our community are cordially invited to celebrate with us. Hope to see you all there. 

Our 2017 Closed Championships culminated in an enjoyable day of competitive final games, prize giving and a bbq feast to celebrate a fantastic week at our club. It is an annual internal club competition which sees our members compete against each other in both singles and doubles matches. It was a hugely successful event with an exciting week of fantastic tennis being played throughout. Over the course of the week members competed in 10 events. We were very fortunate that the wet weather held off which allowed the tournament to be enjoyed by both the players and spectators.  Huge thank you extends to those who are behind the scenes in organising such a successful week, from Maria O’Keeffe who coordinated the kitchen, our resident referee Brian Foley, Cathy Brooks and Catherine Griffin who made sure the schedule ran smoothly and to the many volunteers who worked the kitchen and brought mouth-watering baked goods. The week was closed out with some delectable salads and scrumptious feast of barbecued meats cooked up courtesy of our extraordinary chefs Curly O’Keeffe and Lumey Bland who always serve up the food with a side of comedy. Well done to all those who competed and congratulations to those who were crowned champions in their individual events. Club President Ghyslaine Hegarty presented the winners and runners-up with their trophies and prizes and Club Captain Aoife Fitzgerald closed out the week with a speech thanking all those involved with the 2017 Closed Championship.

Crosshaven Junior Tennis

Last week was an incredible week for junior tennis in our club. In Carrigaline David Cotter won the under 12 boys singles event and was runner up in the under 12 boys doubles event. David is only 9 years old and was competing in only his second open. David has been involved in our club program from the age of 4 and his dedication and hard work are second to none. Well done to David and his parents whose dedication and support play a pivotal role in David's tennis career.

In Templeogue Olwyn Ryan Bovey celebrated another 2 national titles winning the under 14 girls singles and doubles titles. These titles along with her national indoor, national matchplay and junior south of Ireland titles show that Olwyn is having an incredible 2017 to date.

Well done to Mal O Leary who performed so well in the under 10 event in Templeogue and also to Oisin Buckley, Shane Casey, Senan Buckley, Fleur Casey, Theo Murphy who competed so well in Carrigaline.

With Daniel Moloney winning the premier event in Rushbrooke senior last week we now feel that we have a clear pathway for all juniors to aspire to. The future looks very bright, keep it up guys!!!

Unfortunately due to over subscription, we have had to make a decision to close entry to our 2017 open tournament early. Because of the limited number of courts available to us, this decision was necessary for scheduling purposes. We apologise for any disappointment caused.

Congratulations to our Grade 4 mixed team who had an incredible 4-0 win in the winter league final against a local Carrigaline team in Monaleen on Sunday. Thank you to all those who travelled to support the team. Huge congratulations to Niamh Griffin, Deirdre Deane, Padraig ( Curly ) O'Keeffe and John Griffin! Well done on an incredible win! We are all so proud of your fantastic achievement!

Crosshaven Tennis Club and its members would like to wish our Winter League grade 4 mixed team the very best of luck in their final on Sunday March 26th in Monaleen, Limerick at 11am. They will face a local Carrigaline team.

A fundraising evening has been set for Friday, 31st March in Carrigaline Court Hotel. The KUBE fundraiser night will raise much needed funds for the resurfacing of the bottom two courts. Crosshaven tennis club will host their Christmas gathering in Buckleys Bar Crosshaven at 8pm. The awards for Tribes competition and end of year awards will be presented on the night. Best of luck to our Grade 1 Summer Cup team who made it to the final. They will play in the final against Nenagh Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday 25th Sept in Limerick Lawn Tennis Club. We wish Cian Blake (captain), Daniel Maloney, Joanna Riordan and Emer Clarke the very best of luck with their final.

Theo Murphy and Fleur Casey both aged 6 have been selected for the Cork regional under 8 squad. Malachy O'Leary, Oisin Buckley, Shane Casey and David Cotter have become the first juniors from Crosshaven Tennis Club to be selected for the Munster performance under 9 and 10 squads. Their hard work and dedication to the game have paid off - well done lads. Everyone at the club is very proud of you.

Seniors:

Date for the diary - We would like to invite all senior members of the club to Club Social Day - it will take place Sunday 22nd May from 12 noon. Hope to see you all there.

Due to a large amount of entries the Open starts tomorrow Wednesday the 20th. Please make sure to check Tournament Software for the draw.

Parent and Child Fun Tennis Tournament has been organised for Sunday, 17th April from 12-3pm for club members. Open to all orange, green and full court junior players. With limited space available, please avoid disappointment by texting your entry before Sunday 10th April to Val on 0868455019.  Please note: A separate tournament for red junior players will be organised in the near future.

The Crosshaven Open starts next. The Draw will take place on Sunday 17th at 7 p.m. in the club house. Play may commence on Thursday 21st APril. Play will commence at 17.45 p.m. mid week. All Finals will be played on Saturday 30th April.

Come down watch the action and avail of our famous hospitality!

Congratulations to Crosshaven Grade 6, 5 & 4 teams winning their first Spring League match 3-0.

The final score didn't reflect how well Mitchelstown played giving Crosshaven a very competitive game with some fantastic rallies. It was fantastic tennis to watch. Thank you to all those who came to support.

Next round will see Crosshaven play away to Whitechurch, Friday 8th April.

To celebrate we held a Dinner Dance in the Royal Cork Yacht Club on 28 February 2015.

The event was very well attended by current and past members and we were very honoured to have most of our founding members in attendance.

The food was great and there might have been the odd glass of wine had! We would like to thank the RCYC for a great event. 

We danced in to the night with music by The Magnetics and then we were entertained royally by our very own Tony Lawlor who belted out the tunes for the warblers who were left at the end.

It was a fitting celebration for a little club that has gone from strength to strength.

No doubt we will have a few more events to celebrate before the year is out
